Coal Chamber Announces North American Tour

Coal-Chamber-2013-e1418187152406.gif

Back in October, I caught day two of this year's Knotfest in San Bernadino and over the course of the day, I saw approximately fifteen sets. Volbeat, Exmortus, Five Finger Death Punch and of course, Slipknot all put on riotous sets but one of my favorite moments of that day was catching DevilDriver's full set -- a hammering forty-five minutes of concussive rhythms and blazing riffage. Shortly thereafter, frontman Dez Fafara announced that drummer John Boecklin and guitarist Jeff Kendrick had left DevilDriver and that the band were going on immediate hiatus, while Dez focused his attentions on the new Coal Chamber record.

Coal Chamber are currently in the studio working on their first studio album in over 12 years, with esteemed producer Mark Lewis (Whitechapel, DevilDriver, Black Dahlia Murder) in the producer chair. Although the album has been tentatively slated for a Spring, 2015 release, it's safe to say that the music will be available on or before the start of the supporting tour, which begins on March 6th in Tempe, AZ and runs through April 12th in Dallas, TX.

Coal Chamber, California's peerless purveyors of "Spooky Core," have steadfastly refused to bend to prevailing trends or commercial pressures with occasionally mixed results although it's hard to deny the party-friendly awesomeness of their self-titled debut and its monstrous follow up, Chamber Music.
