Matt Heafy To Score “Deathgasm 2”

Toronto, Oct 3, 2023 –

In a guttural symphony of horror, hilarity, and head-banging, none other than Matthew Kiichi Heafy, frontman for Trivium and the ethereal black metal phantasm known as Ibaraki, is now the composing force behind the eagerly awaited Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon — the sequel to the 2015 cult marvel, Deathgasm, which emerged as a splatter comedy totem with its unholy cocktail of gore, giggles, and demon-summoning riffs.

Heafy, duly enamored by the original, gushed, "I have wanted to score Deathgasm since seeing the first film - I am a huge fan of all of Jason’s work. I truly believe I can execute his exact vision for the music for this film. I also already hear the soundtrack in my head. I know we will need vastly varying styles of metal, as well as some orchestral/industrial soundtrack style pieces, and more. It's going to be a blast!"

Director Jason Lei Howden, a latter-day necromancer of the dark cinematic arts, stated, "Matt is not only a metal savant but also a genuine horror enthusiast. His ability to capture the various needs of the film and bring it to life via the score is something I believe will blow audiences out of their seats."

Fast forward a decade in Goremageddon's twisted saga: Brodie, more downbeat than a Bell Witch track, conjures a demonic spell, raising his decomposed bandmates from the abyss, all in a misguided romp to reclaim love and music glory. Instead? A horde of ravenous zombies with a hankering for human tartare.

New Zealand's cinematic necromancers Nick Garrett and Grant Bradley join forces to birth this dark brainchild, with BJ McDonnell, the wizard behind Slayer’s reel madness, as the Executive Producer. Raven Banner, the Toronto-based purveyor of genre masterpieces, is set to spread the contagion globally.

And for the vinyl vultures? A dual-disc auditory treat awaits. Heafy's eerie compositions on one, and a star-studded sonic array from metal gods like Axeslasher and Emperor on the other. Those who dare to back this unholy venture on Kickstarter? They'll grasp a blood-red exclusive vinyl, sealing their pact with the metal underworld.
